A Resource From Youth Ministry Resources
Having a Bible Study and teaching an Adult Bible Study Curriculum has many purposes. Yes, obviously you want people to grow in their knowledge of the bible. You also want people to grow in their Christian walk. But often times learning is not the biggest worry people have at a given moment. As a teacher I have to be aware of that. Math may not be their biggest concern for the day. And my job is not to force them to learn, but to meet their need when possible and then worry about the knowledge. Teaching your Adult Bible Study Curriculum is the same way. Someone may come in right after their world has been rocked. Hopefully it works out to where the scripture you are studying meets them where they are at. I have seen this happen so many times. But before the scripture means anything your group needs comfort the person, allow them to share their hurt, and meet their needs as much as possible. Then you can worry about learning. As a teacher, remember that the Adult Bible Study Curriculum is important, but it may not always take priority.
