A Resource From Youth Ministry Resources
This principle in teaching your Adult Bible Study Curriculum has come up before. But I do not know if I have ever just flat out said it. It is not about you. It is not about what you want or your teaching abilities. It is not your showcase for your ideas. It is about what God wants and what He desires. Now hopefully all the things listed a moment ago that are in your life, line up with what God wants and then it is okay to share some of those things. But it does not start with you. The other part of this, and the hardest part for me, is that you can not make this about you getting to use the entire time to speak. You probably love teaching and are good at it, but in order for your Adult Bible Study Curriculum to be effective, you have to let others share. Here where they are at. Listen to the experience and knowledge that they have. Listen to what their questions and concerns are. This will not only improve your teaching and your lesson, it will also help everyone else feel more connected, along with making your time more than just a bible study and moving it towards being a ministry.
